Lawrence Police said Wednesday that in the past 24 hours they’d handled:
- 303 calls
- 34 calls from motorists in need of help
- 48 reports
- one burglary
- six thefts
- 29 noninjury accidents
- four injury accidents
Injury accidents
- A baby went to the hospital after a rear-end wreck Tuesday afternoon at 23rd and Massachusetts Streets.
Damien L. Shields, 27, Lawrence, was stopped in traffic on Massachusetts Street in a 1993 Cadillac when he was struck from behind by a 1988 Toyota driven by Adam R. Kruckenberg, 23, Lawrence.
Darius Shields, a 7-month-old baby riding in Shields’ Cadillac, was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.
