After a dreary morning, Lawrence was basking in the sunshine this afternoon. And the break in the clouds has helped push up the temperature a few more degrees than was expected for today.

At 3:30 p.m., Lawrence’s downtown temperature was 44 with a 5-mph easterly wind making the wind chill 41. The temperature has already exceeded what was expected today, which was a high of 38.

Overnight, Lawrence’s temperture will drop to a low of 28, with the high reaching 42 under mostly cloudy skies, according to Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

Thursday’s morning low will be 26, with the high climbing to 48 under partly cloudy skies, Schack said.
