Wheat production increases in 2005

Wheat production in Kansas was up 21 percent in 2005 from the previous year, according to Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service figures.

Kansas, the nation’s top wheat-producing state, had a total harvest of 380 million bushels. Douglas County accounted for 149,000 bushels of wheat this year, or 0.04 percent of the state’s total.
