Forest service taking orders for seedlings

The Kansas Forest Service is accepting orders for the spring planting season.

The forest service offers bundles of seedlings for more than 30 hardwood and evergreen trees and hardwood shrubs.

Forester Joshua Pease said the forest service requires buyers to use the seedlings to help conserve the environment.

Pease suggested using seedlings for a windbreak, a living snow fence, a wildlife habitat, a stream side area or to improve a wooded area. The program will begin deliveries the second week of March.

Order forms are available at the Web site www.kansasforests.org; by phone at 1-888-740-8733; at any county’s K-State Research and Extension office; a forest service office; a county conservation district office; or a natural resources and conservation service office.
