Entries sought from artists with disabilities

VSA Arts is seeking submissions from artists ages 22 and over who are committed to their artistic progress and who have a physical, cognitive or mental disability.

“Transformation” provides artists an opportunity to express the ways in which art transforms our lives, focusing on the influence of education and disability. Artists are invited to reflect on a pivotal moment or event in life that led them to a greater understanding of themselves in relation to their art. Artists are asked to describe how they were transformed and to use their submission to illustrate this transformation.

A distinguished jury will review two slides of earlier work and three slides of current work within the span of five years. If selected, artwork will be part of an exhibition that will debut in June 2006 in Washington, D.C.

There is no entry fee; round-trip shipping expenses are covered, and selected artwork does not have to be framed. The deadline for entries is March 24.

Visit www.vsarts.org/transformation for additional information and entry forms, or call (202) 628-2800. Braille or large-print versions are available upon request.
