Lawrence police said today they are trying to find anyone who might have witnessed a traffic accident last week that resulted in the death of an elderly local man.

Police Sgt. Dan Ward said the accident happened about 10:12 a.m. last Friday at the intersection of 19th and Massachusetts streets.

The accident involved a blue, 1992 Oldsmobile four-door sedan and a white 2005 Toyota Camry four-door sedan, Ward said.

“The driver of the Oldsmobile, a 77-year-old Lawrence resident, was transported to the hospital where he died on Sunday, November 27, 2005, from the injuries he received,” Ward wrote in a release to the media.

Ward said police would like anyone who was in the area at the time of the accident, or anyone who might have information related to the accident, to call the police department’s traffic unit at 832-7595.
