Topekan arrested after standoff

? Osage County authorities arrested a 24-year-old Topeka man Saturday morning in Carbondale after an eight-hour standoff outside an apartment complex. No injuries resulted.

Officers were dispatched at 12:55 a.m. to the complex at 504 Coal St., in response to a previous incident of aggravated assault and domestic battery, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officers then were told that the Topeka man was inside and armed with a handgun.

About 2 a.m., authorities evacuated several people from the complex.

More than six hours later, officers arrested the man without incident at 8:45 a.m. He was hiding in the attic, the sheriff’s office said.

Information was unavailable Saturday afternoon as to what charges the man could face.
