Washington Washington's most famous baby is said to be growing quickly and thriving.
The Washington Post reports the panda cub at the National Zoo received his second examination Monday and veterinarians are pleased with his progress. The cub now weighs 2.6 pounds, compared with 1.82 pounds last Tuesday.
Veterinarian Sharon Deem says the cub's eyes are not open yet, but he's grown more fur since last week and seems feistier. Deem says they hope to examine the cub every one to three weeks, when his mother Mei Xiang leaves him alone.
The panda cub was born on July 9th.
