Birmingham, Ala. ? After spending nearly two months in Aruba searching for clues and offering rewards, the mother of a missing teen has left the island and returned home to Birmingham.

According to a relative, it was “very difficult” for Beth Holloway Twitty to leave Aruba without knowing her daughter’s fate, and she plans to return soon to keep the investigation alive.

Natalee Holloway disappeared without a trace on May 30. A search of a landfill in Aruba turned up no traces on Sunday, the third day of the search.
