“This is where my friends go,” Duvall said. “And it’s a good place to study.”

With the recent addition of Starbucks in the Dillon Stores on 23rd Street and Sixth Street and Lawrence Avenue, Lawrence has close to 20 coffee-drinking establishments offering espresso, lattes and other drinks.

Rebecca Beeson, manager at Aimee’s Coffee House, 1025-A Mass., said she’s starting to think Lawrence is becoming oversaturated with coffeehouses.

She said it was important to offer more products and activities to keep customers. At Aimee’s, food items such as biscuits and gravy and vegetarian foods are offered.

“We do things like live music and poetry reading too,” Beeson said.

Andiy Sullivan, barista at Henry’s, 11 E. Eighth St., said she didn’t think there were too many coffeehouses in Lawrence.

She said each place had its own personality to serve different people and that coffeehouses were popular in Lawrence because they were good places to study and convenient.

“The market is pretty competitive, but we have a lot of regulars and don’t worry about losing business,” Sullivan said.

Duvall said she didn’t think that there were too many coffee houses in Lawrence.

“The different places stay pretty busy, so I don’t think there’s too many,” she said.
