Injury accidents

  • A 9-year-old girl was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Thursday after riding a small motorized bike into the street and being struck by a truck. The girl rode the bike south out of the driveway of 529 Maple St. Thursday evening as a large truck was headed eastbound on Maple. The truck was unable to stop and struck the motorized bike. The girl suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. A 24-year-old Lawrence woman was cited for allowing the girl to operate an unauthorized vehicle in the street. The truck driver was not cited.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A Lawrence woman told police that someone had stolen an Apple Powerbook computer out of her apartment in the 900 block of Mississippi between 1:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Wednesday. The computer was valued at $2,500. According to the police report, the burglar used a knife or cutting instrument to force entry.
  • A Lawrence man told police that someone had stolen a set of golf clubs and a golf bag from his home in the 3400 block of Riverview Road between March 28 and April 6. The clubs were estimated at $2,250. The bag was valued at $150.
