Injury accidents
- An Ottawa teen was injured Tuesday when his car struck a tree in a ditch. Clinton Bryan, 17, Ottawa, was headed north on Tennessee Road in Franklin County before 7 a.m. when his attention was diverted and his car entered a ditch and struck a tree, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. Bryan was taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, where he was treated and released.
Burglaries and thefts reported
- Lawrence Police received a reported that a 62-year-old woman stole $5,461 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development between January 1995 and February 2004. According to a report, she illegally received benefits from the agency during that period because she failed to report income from a pension.
The woman lived in an apartment in the 1600 block of Haskell Ave., according to the report.
