Weekend fun includes ‘Own-Your-Own’ show, sale

Tonight at the Wakarusa Corporate Centre, the public will get its first glimpse at the area artists who were chosen to participate in the fourth-annual Lawrence Own-Your-Own Art Exhibition and Sale. The exhibition runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Centre, on the northwest corner of 18th Street and Wakarusa Drive.

Award winners will be announced, and juror Edward Barr, director of the Mulvane Art Museum in Topeka, will explain how he reached his decisions. Twenty percent of proceeds from the art-based charity fund-raiser benefit Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center. The rest of the money from sales goes back to the artists.
