The Seem-To-Be Players, the Lawrence Arts Center’s professional children’s theater company, will offer a sneak preview of its spring touring production “Los Zapatos Magicos; Pedro’s Magic Shoes” at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H.

The staged reading of the bilingual play by Ric Averill, the company’s artistic director, is the result of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Joining the Players as director is Jose Cruz Gonzales, a nationally known award-winning playwright and director from the Los Angeles area.

Serving as dramaturg for the production is Dorothy Webb, founding director of the Bonderman Youth Theatre Playwriting Symposium in Indianapolis.

Tony Perez, of San Diego, will play the role of Pedro. Perez also will join the company for the spring tour of the production, which will be performed in Topeka, Norton, Newton, Tonganoxie and Liberal; Tulsa, Okla.; Yuma, Ariz.; and Waco, Texas.

Other members of this year’s touring company are Michael Dragen, Jake Walker, Andrea Woody and Albert Burnes. These actors will appear in “Los Zapatos Magicos,” “The Boston Tea Pary” and “The Ugly Duckling,” both on the road and in February at the arts center.

The company will begin its national tour in late September.

Admission to “Los Zapatos” on Saturday is $5. The performance kicks off the troupe’s family season. The other three shows in the season will be October’s “Baby Yaga; The Bony Legged Witch,” a Halloween musical by Averill, February’s “The Ugly Duckling,” and April’s “Treasure Island,” adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson by Scot Copeland of Nashville’s children’s theater. “Treasure Island” will feature one young actor with the company of professionals.

All three of the shows will be $8 for adults and $6 for children and seniors. Season tickets are $15.
