With 11 days left to vote, the title of best smoking area remains up for grabs in the Best of Lawrence 2004 reader's poll.
The same goes for best dentist, best place to bike and dozens of other "best of" categories.
As of Thursday, Journal-World readers had submitted more than 225 ballots. About 95 percent have been cast online, said Al Bonner, advertising director for the Journal-World.
"If this pace keeps up, we're hoping to have about 1,500 ballots, which would be a tremendous response," Bonner said. Ballots are due Oct. 25.
A ballot can be found in today's Journal-World. Balloting also may be done online at www.lawrence.com/best. The ballot will be in Tuesday's Deadwood Edition of lawrence.com. The ballot also will appear in the Journal-World again Monday and Wednesday.
Only ballots that appeared in the Journal-World, Deadwood Edition or online will be accepted. No photocopies.
In addition, ballots must be at least 50 percent filled out to qualify, and each entry must include the name, address and phone number of those voting.
Winners will be announced in special sections in the Nov. 9 editions of the Journal-World and Deadwood Edition.
