Slick 57
Dallas act Slick 57 delivers rock music with a touch of twang that makes the "bitchy girls cry and the wimpy boys feel cool." Touring on its latest record, "The Ghost of Bonnie Parker," the group has been sued, nearly evicted, had amplifiers stolen, had paychecks bounce, had electricity shut off for weeks at a time and wrecked its touring van known as the Sliver Bullet. But such hardships have given the band an aggressive onstage persona and helped add new meaning to the phrase "Don't Mess with Texas." The ensemble joins The Reputation and The Von Ehrics 10:30 p.m. Saturday at The Replay Lounge, 946 Mass.

Joseph Arthur
Singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur was "discovered" by Peter Gabriel in 1997. Since then, the Ohio native has released a plethora of eclectic material for both major and indie labels, and toured with the likes of Ben Harper and Gomez. Combining Leonard Cohen's deadpan delivery with Jeff Buckley's adventurous melodic sense, Arthur is lyrically and musically ambitious, with a social conscience to boot. Arthur performs 10:30 p.m. Thursday at The Jackpot Saloon, 943 Mass.
