Injury accident reported on turnpike

A woman was injured in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday night on the Kansas Turnpike a mile east of the East Lawrence terminal.

She was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Kansas Turnpike Authority dispatchers said. The accident occurred about 7 p.m. and was still under investigation late Wednesday night. No other details were available.

Driver injured in road grader collision

McLouth — A road grader backed into a pickup truck Wednesday morning, injuring a McLouth woman who was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Joann C. Willits, 65, was driving the 2003 Ford truck northbound on Washington Avenue four miles south of McLouth when it was struck by a 1999 Caterpillar, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. Willits was treated and released at the hospital, a nursing supervisor said.

The driver of the road grader was identified by the Highway Patrol as Samuel L. Summerville, 57, Perry. He was not hurt.

The accident was reported at 7:45 a.m.
