Four new movies open in Lawrence this week, and none more goofy than "National Treasure." It's "The Da Vinci Code" meets the American Revolution in this lively action/heist movie. Nicolas Cage portrays the youngest in a long line of scholar-adventurers who discovers cryptic clues the Founding Fathers left that may lead to a vast fortune.

Renee Zellweger returns as novelist Helen Fielding's popular character in the sequel "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason." This time the frumpy British gal must deal with relationship paranoia, magic mushrooms and a stint in prison.

It wouldn't be November without animation. This weekend it's "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie," which finds the naÃive, bipolar resident of Bikini Bottom on a quest to retrieve the crown of King Neptune.

And finally pulling up at the art house is "The Motorcycle Diaries." A young "Che" Guevara and a buddy take a road trip across Latin America that turns into a revelatory experience for the young revolutionary.

Sounds just like my monthly outings to Branson. I'm Jon Niccum with Screen Scene.
