AMC tapes 9,000th episode
New York (ap) -- The cast and crew of ABC's "All My Children" celebrated the taping of the daytime soap opera's 9,000th episode Wednesday -- with cake.
Although the history of the soap includes a prison break, ghosts, dozens of marriages and a bear attack, the anniversary celebration was low-key. The cast gathered for a group picture, each holding a sign with the number of episodes aired since they first appeared on the show.
The card of Susan Lucci, 54, who plays diva Erica Kane, read 9,000. Yes, she's been on the show since its 1970 debut.
The 9,000th episode, set to air Dec. 16, deals with the ongoing baby switch saga concerning Kane's daughter, Bianca Montgomery, played by Eden Riegel, and her believed-to-be-missing baby, Miranda.

Little Rock, Ark.-- Aretha Franklin sang with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, performing her hits including "Respect" and "Chain of Fools," in advance of the opening of former President Clinton's library.
The full house that turned out at Robinson Auditorium applauded enthusiastically Tuesday night for Franklin, who told The Associated Press that she was fond of Clinton for his humanitarian work.
"It's my impression that he cares about people and he cares about all people," the singer said.
Clinton and other dignitaries will attend the Clinton Presidential Center dedication ceremony today. The center opens to the public Friday.
A wrinkle in her plans
Los Angeles -- Diane Keri Richie, the estranged wife of pop singer Lionel Richie, has been charged with letting a man use her Beverly Hills home to give illegal anti-wrinkle injections.
Richie faces two counts of aiding and abetting Daniel Tomas Fuente Serrano, who wasn't licensed as a doctor or nurse when he gave injections not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.
She was arrested and spent one night in jail but was released on $25,000 bail after appearing in court Tuesday.
Diane Richie filed for separation in October 2003 and divorce in January, citing irreconcilable differences. She has asked for $300,000 a month in alimony and child support.

Jude Law is People magazine's new "sexiest man alive." Ho-hum. Like it could be anybody else.
What's really got the chattering classes a-twitter is news that Karl Rove, oft compared to Machiavelli and sometimes called "Bush's brain," is the leading contender for Time magazine's Person of the Year.
The White House adviser President Bush calls "the architect" is credited with engineering Bush's re-election through clever use of gay marriage ballot initiatives, appeals to evangelicals, and taping John Kerry's every public utterance to capture those inevitable foot-in-mouth moments.
A panel assembled to choose the POY, "who most affected the news and our lives, for good or for ill" this year, said others in the running include filmmakers Mel Gibson and Michael Moore, the deity God, the prophet Mohammed, and the categories bloggers and terrorists.
