Ex-Jayhawk arrested
Former Kansas University defensive back Bobby Birhiray was booked into Douglas County Jail on Friday for failing to appear in court on traffic-related charges. The traffic charges were issued by the Kansas University Public Safety office.
Birhiray was released at 3:48 a.m. Saturday on $348 bond.
Birhiray played on the Jayhawk football team from 2001 to 2003, but was not listed on this season’s roster.
Mississippian arrested on sodomy charges
A Mississippi man was booked into Douglas County Jail Saturday on charges of aggravated indecent liberty and criminal sodomy of a child.
The 21-year-old from Leland, Miss., was transferred to Lawrence from out of state on a Douglas County warrant stemming from a 2003 incident, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lt. Kathy Tate.
Bail has been set at $15,000.
