6News video: Art a la Carte

Where for art thou Romeo? This weekend, he’s on the Crafton-Preyer Theatre stage, where University Theatre is presenting Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” KU’s version of the tragic tale of star-crossed young lovers is expected to be as notable for its sugary love scenes as it is for its fast-paced and well-choreographed fight sequences. The show runs this weekend and next.

A group of Lawrence writers will be perched at downtown coffeehouses and other venues Saturday afternoon to conduct mini-workshops with participants in the inaugural Coffeehouse Crawl. Organizers hope to draw aspiring writers to the event, which ends with a release party for Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg’s new book, “Animals in the House.” Call the arts center for more details.

And for a taste of what the Lawrence Children’s Choir is brewing for its spring tour of Germany, check out the group’s first concert of the season. The youngsters will perform at 5 p.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Cathedral in Topeka.
