Law enforcement report
Lawrence Police said Tuesday that in the past 24 hours they'd handled:
- 250 calls
- 29 reports
- two burglaries
- three thefts
- five noninjury accidents
Somebody forged a check and a prescription to obtain the painkiller Ketorolac from Medical Arts Pharmacy, 346 Maine, according to a report. The transaction happened Oct. 22 but wasn't reported until Friday, after pharmacy employees discovered the check hadn't cleared and contacted the person whose name was on the check.
Injury accidents
A 20-year-old Lawrence woman received treatment at Lawrence Memorial Hospital Saturday after a wreck at 27th and Iowa Streets.
Melissa S. Oshel was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier east on 27th Street when the driver of a 1994 Ford Taurus, Joshua K. McClenahan, 22, Lawrence, didn't see her and went through the intersection.
Police cited McClenahan for inattentive driving, according to a report.
Burglaries and thefts reported
- A 34-year-old man told police two friends took $5,355 in property, including a $3,500 Dell laptop computer, from his home in the 100 block of North Michigan Street. The incident happened between Sept. 7 and Sept. 14, according to a report.
