Lawrence City Commissioner Sue Hack confirmed this morning that she'll seek a second term on the commission.

Hack, a 57-year old retired Lawrence junior high teacher, became the first declared candidate to seek one of three spots that will be up for grabs during the April 5 general election.

Hack, who is completing a four year term on the commission, said she wanted another term because she felt she could help bring consensus to a sometimes divided community.

"I feel that one of the things I have been able to contribute is the ability to draw people together," Hack said. "I want to help us become more collaborative in our approach to problem solving as opposed to combative."

City commissioners David Dunfield and David Schauner also are up for re-election. Dunfield has announced that he won't run for re-election. Schauner has not yet made an announcement about his political future.
