Law enforcement report

  • A 22-year-old Lawrence woman told police she was raped Oct. 24 in Manhattan. Lawrence Police took a statement from the woman Oct. 25 after being contacted by employees of Ga Du Gi SafeCenter, which provides services for rape victims. They referred the case to the Riley County Police Department for further investigation, said Sgt. Dan Ward, a Lawrence Police spokesman.

Ward declined to release additional details of the case Wednesday.

  • After a report of a gas smell, students and staff at Southwest Junior High School, 2511 Inverness Drive, moved Wednesday from a portable classroom to the school building. Maintenance workers are fixing a leak under the portable.

Injury accidents

  • A man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance Wednesday night after he was struck by a vehicle on the Kansas University campus.

The accident occurred at 15th Street and Naismith Drive. KU Public Safety officers were investigating the incident, and no other details were available.
