It’s a long way from “Suddenly Susan” to “Celebrity Mole.” Or maybe not. Comedian Kathy Griffin has no qualms about her place in the celebrity pecking order. And she tells us all about it in her very funny stand-up special “Kathy Griffin: The D-List” (8 p.m., Bravo).

Her honesty about Hollywood is not limited to self-knowledge. She may only be a “temp” on “Hollywood Squares,” but she dishes with the vicious glee of a junk-culture junkie. Her routine includes an amazing description of a scary encounter with the thuggish Whitney Houston, a few special moments with an addled Anna Nicole Smith, and an elaborate practical joke she played on Sharon Stone at a stuffy charity function. Some may balk at her bold sexual and scatological humor, but this special is considerably cleaned-up compared to earlier HBO shows.

• A vacancy on the Supreme Court inspires a spirited debate in the Bartlet White House on “The West Wing” (8 p.m., NBC). Glenn Close appears as a possible candidate for the high bench. This isn’t the “Sunset Boulevard” star’s first stint as a Washington heavyweight. She portrayed the vice president in the 1996’s “Air Force One.”
