Bottom line

The Lawrence City Commission will consider approval of an apartment complex that would be built adjacent to a proposed Wal-Mart store at Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive.

Background

6Wak Land Investments, the landowner, has sued the city for charging 6Wak for road improvements at the site even though Wal-Mart has not been allowed to build. City staffers have recommended that 6Wak not be given permission to build the apartments unless the road improvement charges are paid.
