Public comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. today and should be directed to Maj. Anthony Randall, Ph.D., Adjunct General’s Department, ATTN: AGKS-DOFE-E, 131 S.W. 27th St., Topeka 66611-1159.

Kansas space camp coming soon to area

Kansas STARBASE, a Kansas National Guard Youth Program, begins today in Wichita.

STARBASE — Science and Technology Academies Reinforcing Basic Aviation and Space Exploration — is available for students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades. Students investigate laws of motion, properties of air and forces of flight. The $90 tuition covers five days of classes and activities, project supplies, a T-shirt and National Guard tours.

The program runs in Topeka from June 21 to 25, July 12 to 16 for girls only, July 26 to 30 for robotics and from Aug. 9 to 13 for radio controlled airplanes. The last two sessions require that a student must be at least in fourth grade and complete the traditional STARBASE academy.

STARBASE comes to Kansas City, Kan., from July 12 to 16 for girls only and from July 19 to 23 for the traditional program.
