Say goodbye to ‘Sex’ on Sunday nights

“Sex and the City” (8 p.m. Sunday, HBO) airs its final episode tonight.

Carrie’s quartet is leaving the air.

Am I wrong to admit that I just don’t care?

Samantha’s promiscuity was vulgar and chronic.

But so was Carrie’s lust for Manolo Blahniks.

I know the series had the chic world smitten.

But did anyone notice that it was terribly written?

I sure hope Samantha beats her disease.

But to me she’ll always suffer from terminal sleaze.

A one-hour retrospective (7 p.m.) of the series’ six seasons will precede the season finale.

  • Can a black singer be a “country” star? That’s the provocative question at the heart of the 90-minute documentary “Waiting in the Wings” (7 p.m. today, CMT). “Wings” explores the black influences on country music’s development, as well as some the cultural, political and marketing trends that have made people think of it as an exclusively “white” genre. Hank Williams Jr. discusses how blues musician “T. Tot” Payne taught Hank Williams Sr. to play guitar when the future country legend was only 9 years old. “If they hadn’t met,” Hank Jr. explains, “There might not have been a Hank Williams.”
