KU police seek suspect who threatened student

Kansas University police are seeking a man who waved a knife and threatened a female KU student late last week.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday the woman was parking in the lower level of the GSP/Corbin Residence Hall garage near 11th and Louisiana streets when another car pulled in, according to police.

From his car, the man waved a knife and said he would kill her if she told anybody what she had seen. He then drove away, Lt. Schuyler Bailey said. The woman told police the man might have followed her from McCollum Residence Hall, 1800 Engel Road.

He was a Hispanic man in his late 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He had brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a white mesh baseball cap. His car was a 1980s, white, four-door Ford Taurus with a rusted hood and passenger’s side. It had a Kansas license plate.

Anyone with information may call KU Police at 864-5900 or KU Crime Stoppers at 864-8888. Crime Stoppers callers remain anonymous but a reward is possible if an arrest is made.
