Phone directory fouls up map of KU campus
Looking for a building at Kansas University?
Don’t expect the new SBC phone directory to be much help.
The directory, which was recently distributed, includes an updated map of the KU campus. But it includes the map legend from last year.
Because several buildings have been added in the past year, most of the identifying number markers for buildings are incorrect.
Don Fisher, an SBC spokesman, said the book’s designers simply forgot to update the legend in this year’s phone book.
“It’s our fault, not the university’s at all,” Fisher said. “We regret that.”
Legislature

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius reacts to her picture on the calendar, which also features Kansas University undergraduates, faculty and administrators. It was sponsored by KU's Emily Taylor Women's Resource Center.
Lawmakers recite pledge, receive KU calendars
Topeka — Tuesday was an unofficial women’s day at the Capitol, with a strong Lawrence presence in attendance for the festivities.
Sadie Callan of Lawrence led state officials and Girl Scouts in reciting the Girl Scout’s promise. Callan, a senior at Lawrence Free State High School, was flanked by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Senate Majority Leader Lana Oleen, R-Manhattan, during the Statehouse ceremony.
Sebelius, and Kansas’ 46 female legislators also were given copies of the new “KU Women of Distinction” calendar at the ceremony.
Health
Flu vaccine available
More flu vaccine is available at the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department.
The department, 200 Maine, Suite B, has 10 doses of the vaccine for children 6 months to 35 months old. It also has 20 doses for children and adults.
Demand for the vaccine has dropped considerably and there are no longer any restrictions on who can receive it, said Barbara Schnitker, the department’s director of nurses. But health officials still recommend that anyone considered at high risk of getting the flu get the vaccine.
High-risk candidates are people 65 years old and older; adults and children with chronic health conditions such as asthma and diabetes; women more than 3 months pregnant and healthy children 6 months to 24 months old.
Flu shots cost $10 but no one will be denied because of inability to pay, officials said.
