Jenna Bush planning to teach in Washington

President Bush’s daughter Jenna Bush plans to live in the District of Columbia and teach at a public school serving low-income children.

Jenna Bush, 22, graduated last spring from the University of Texas with a degree in English. She campaigned with her father during the summer and fall as he sought re-election but said she hoped to teach at a charter school.

A spokesman for first lady Laura Bush, Gordon Johndroe, confirmed that Jenna would go to work for a public school in Washington but declined to disclose other details.

Her twin sister, Barbara, earned a humanities degree from Yale last spring. Her career plans have not been announced.

Wedding bells update

New York — Is the knot really tied this time?

Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias were married a few weeks ago in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Us Weekly magazine reports. “Everything is awesome. We are married,” the magazine quotes Kournikova as saying Sunday at a charity tennis event in Florida.

Ivy Mollenkamp, Kournikova’s publicist, refused Tuesday to confirm or deny the Us Weekly story, saying, “We never comment on her personal life.” Iglesias’ representative, Stacy Boniello, had no comment.

Court officials in charge of registering marriages in Puerto Vallarta and neighboring Nuevo Vallarta said they had no record of such a wedding. But the former tennis pro and the Latin pop star could have had a religious wedding, which would not be legally recognized in Mexico.

‘Law & Order’ turn

Los Angeles — Lorraine Bracco will be the next star of “The Sopranos” to moonlight on a “Law & Order” drama.

Bracco, who plays mobster Tony Soprano’s psychiatrist on the HBO show, has been cast as an ambitious lawyer on the upcoming “Law & Order: Trial by Jury” on NBC, a series spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Michael Imperioli, who plays a Soprano relative, is appearing in the final four episodes of “Law & Order” this season, while Robert Iler, who plays Tony Soprano’s son, was on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” last year.

Edie Falco played a defense lawyer on “Law & Order” before starring in “The Sopranos.”

Bracco’s episode will film in January.

It’s a boy

New York — Steven Tyler is now, gasp, a grandfather.

Liv Tyler, daughter of the Aerosmith lead singer and model Bebe Buell, gave birth to a son Tuesday in Manhattan, Us Weekly magazine reported.

“They are both doing great,” Tyler’s publicist, Stephen Huvane, told The Associated Press on Wednesday. He said the baby hadn’t yet been named.

The 27-year-old actress is married to Royston Langdon of the band Spacehog.

Tyler played the elf princess Arwen in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. Her screen credits also include “Jersey Girl” and “Armageddon.”

Dressed down

Beijing — A naked Pamela Anderson will beckon from Chinese billboards in a new anti-fur campaign — if the former “Baywatch” star can get past the censors.

The posters, featuring the slogan “Give fur the cold shoulder” in English, show the 37-year-old actress topless with her back to the camera and an arm partly hiding her right breast.

An image of falling snow appears above Chinese characters reading “cold shoulders are nothing compared to the pain they feel” and “please don’t wear fur.”

China’s straight-laced media regulators have yet to give the posters a green light, said Jason Baker, a Hong Kong-based spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is promoting the anti-fur campaign.

Star Jones sued

New York — Star Jones Reynolds has been sued for more than $7,000 for work a gardener says he did on her Manhattan penthouse terrace to prepare it for an Architectural Digest photo layout.

Jones Reynolds, who married banker Al Reynolds last month, is a co-host of ABC’s “The View.” The lawsuit, filed in June in Manhattan Civil Court, was made public Tuesday on thesmokinggun.com.

Dimitri Gatanas, who runs Dimitri’s Garden Center, said Tuesday he built her rooftop garden, completing it in June 2002 at a cost of about $30,000. “We made it look like paradise,” Gatanas said.

But in April 2003, Gatanas said, she asked him to freshen the garden for the Architectural Digest photos. He said she promised that instead of paying him she would get him a mention in the magazine.

In the magazine’s October 2003 issue, Gatanas said, Jones’ 1,400-square-foot garden was featured in several photographs, but he and his company weren’t mentioned.

Barry Manilow signs contract with Las Vegas Hilton

Las Vegas– Barry Manilow, famous for songs such as “Mandy” and “Copacabana,” has signed a long-term deal to perform at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel-casino.

Manilow will perform five nights a week for 24 weeks through 2005 and into 2006, executives announced Tuesday. The 90-minute show premieres Feb. 24 and is called “Manilow: Music and Passion.”

Executives declined to discuss contract details.

Manilow said at a news conference that playing Las Vegas made perfect sense after he made the decision to stop touring.

He said the show would include singers, dancers, a large band and new songs.

“It won’t be static,” Manilow said. “It will change every night.”
