Lawrence Police said Wednesday that in the past 24 hours they’d handled:

  • 231 calls
  • 21 reports
  • one burglary
  • one theft
  • four noninjury accidents
  • one injury accident

Accidents

  • Two 15-year-old girls were injured when a Ford Ranger pickup truck went out of control and overturned shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 1700 section of North 150 Road south of Baldwin, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. One of the girls was ejected from the truck. Both were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The victims’ names and their conditions weren’t available late Wednesday night.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 43-year-old Eudora man reported two handguns worth $500 each stolen from his vehicle between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 2300 block of Iowa Street.
  • Someone stole five shotguns and a rifle worth a total of $2,802 from a mobile home in the 1100 section of East 100 Road. The theft happened between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday.
  • A 29-year-old Lawrence man reported a $1,032 paint sprayer and $900 in other tools stolen between Oct. 1 and Dec. 13 from his residence in the 800 block of Michigan Street.
