Scattered showers expected tonight
If you’re headed out this evening, expect to get wet — scattered showers are expected throughout the Lawrence area, says Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist.
“A storm system to our south is heading to our direction this evening. We should see showers here after dinner,” Sayers said. However, Lawrence is just on the western edge of the storm system, with the heaviest part of the rain falling over northwest Missouri, he said.
“We’re just getting clipped by it,” Sayers said. The scattered showers will be leaving the Lawrence area during the early morning hours, with the clouds clearing out by sunrise, he said.
Overnight, the temperature will fall to a low of 34 by early Tuesday morning, he said.
Tuesday’s skies will be sunny through the day, with temperatures above normal and the high reaching 51, he said. Winds will be from the west at 10-15 mph.
“Tuesday night it should be just a tad cooler,” Sayers said. The low temperature will drop below freezing to 28, he said.
Then mild conditions are headed back to the Lawrence area, with scattered clouds on Wednesday and a high reaching 54, he said.
