Injury accidents

A three-car accident Saturday morning sent a Paola woman to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. A hospital spokesperson said Mary L. Belcher, 79, Paola, was in stable condition. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the 1994 GMC pickup Belcher was riding in crossed the center line on Kansas Highway 68 eight miles east of Ottawa and struck a 1993 Ford pickup. A spare tire from the GMC pickup struck a 1991 Ford passenger car. Robert M. Belcher, 81, Paola, was driving the GMC pickup and was not injured. The driver of the Ford pickup, Wayne Parks, 80, Lawrence, and the driver of the Ford passenger car, Sarah E. Downard, 33, Clarksburg, did not suffer injuries.

• A man identified as James D. Henry, 19, was taken to University of Kansas Hospital after losing control of a 1991 Isuzu passenger car and striking an embankment Saturday evening, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Henry, of Leavenworth, was driving north on Tonganoxie Road in Leavenworth County when he failed to negotiate a curve and lost control, the patrol said. The car went off the east side of the road and struck the embankment head-on. A nursing supervisor at the KU hospital said she could not confirm that Henry was a patient.
