Law enforcement report

  • A 23-year-old Lawrence man was flown to a Kansas City-area hospital after a one-car wreck early Tuesday in the 500 block of Colorado Street. Police say John M. Appelhans was driving a 1993 Ford Escort north about 1:45 a.m. when he crashed into a parked pickup. He suffered major facial and head injuries after being thrown into the windshield, police said. He was in stable condition Tuesday night, police said. Police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • Two 19-year-old Lawrence men reported a pair of laptop computers stolen between 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday from their apartment in the 2000 block of West Sixth Street, according to a report. The computers were a $1,200 Toshiba laptop and a $1,000 Compaq laptop.
