You don’t have to click the heels of your ruby red slippers to be transported to the Land of Oz.

The Lied Center will take you there — on the big screen, no less — during “Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz,” a new, interactive theatrical film experience that combines audience participation with the most beloved motion picture of all time. The show will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Lied Center.

A master of ceremonies will introduce the film and lead patrons through the evening’s audience participation, which includes singing along with Dorothy and booing the wicked witch. To enhance their powers while they are in the magical land of Oz, every audience member will receive a free “Perform-A-Long Fun Pack,” including a kazoo, mystical bubbles, a noisemaker and a magic wand.

“Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz” allows audiences to enjoy this Oscar-winning film, fully restored, on a 23-foot tall by 32-foot wide screen with a state-of-the-art sound system. Audiences are encouraged to sing along with some of the best-known songs in motion picture history: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” “If I Only had a Brain” and “Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead.” Songs will be subtitled for new fans.

To complete the “Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz” experience, audience members are encouraged to dress as their favorite character from the film. The master of ceremonies will lead an onstage costume parade, during which prizes will be awarded for imagination and creativity. Munchkins, witches — both good and wicked — scarecrows, tin men and cowardly lions are all welcome.
