U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Peter J. Schoomaker visited Fort Riley Thursday as part of a worldwide tour to assess posts’ capabilities.
During a tour, he talked with Fort Riley troops who have recently returned from Iraq. Schoomaker also visited training areas and met with families of deployed troops.

Media were not allowed to accompany Schoomaker on the tour.

William Jewell College to break with church
William Jewell College, at odds with the Missouri Baptist Convention over the issue of homosexuality, is prepared to end its 154-year relationship with it, school president David L. Sallee says.
“It’s a fact. We’re moving on, and psychologically we have been doing that for several months,” Sallee said Wednesday in an interview after meeting with the editorial board of The Kansas City Star.
The roughly 1,500-student liberal arts college is in suburban Liberty, Mo. The Baptist convention has been upset with William Jewell’s handling of homosexuality on campus.
