Police reports
Ottawa Police were still searching Friday night for a third person suspected of stealing driver’s license blanks from the Kansas Motor Vehicle Driver’s License Bureau, in the 1400 block of South Main Street.
Just before noon Friday, a suspect jumped the counter in the bureau, knocked down the clerk, and fled by vehicle with a number of driver’s license blanks. Police and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department units found the vehicle wrecked into a tree minutes later, where they arrested a suspect. Another suspect was taken into custody after a foot chase, but a third is still on the loose.
Officers searched for several hours using an airplane and canine unit in the area near the KOFO radio station and a KFC restaurant. Ottawa Police continue to investigate.
Injury accidents
A four-vehicle wreck Wednesday night sent the driver who allegedly caused it to the hospital. Tammy E. Wilkins, 39, Lawrence, was southbound on Lawrence Avenue and ran a red light at Sixth Street about 9 p.m., according to a report.
She struck an eastbound van driven by Tammie L. Finney, 44. A driver in the other eastbound lane stopped to avoid Wilkins and was rear-ended, according to the report.
Wilkins was transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment and was cited for a red-light violation. A passenger in Finney’s van received treatment at a personal doctor, and four passengers in the rear-ended car took themselves to the hospital for possible treatment.
