Health programs receive $3 million in grants
The Department of Health and Human Services will distribute five federal grants totaling more than $3 million to health and learning research programs in Kansas.
Included is $93,138 to the Lawrence-based Flint Hills Scientific LLC awarded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes for further educational research on neurological disorders. The Kansas University Center for Research will receive $189,419 to continue research on local Head Start programs and the KU Medical Center was awarded $73,973 from the National Library of Medicine for a new examination of medical library assistance.
Economic Opportunity Foundation Inc. will receive $2.6 million to continue Head Start programs for Kansas City, Kan., youths, and Head Start of Shawnee Mission Inc. will get $450,312 to continue a Johnson County Head Start program.
