In the latest twist in the saga of the New York Philharmonic’s controversial plan to move from Lincoln Center to Carnegie Hall after the 2005-06 season, the Lincoln said Tuesday it plans to make sure the orchestra “adheres in all respects” to the terms of its existing tenancy agreement, which extends to 2011.

The orchestra’s planned move, announced unexpectedly earlier this month, would leave Lincoln Center without a long-term tenant for its Avery Fisher Hall. Lincoln Center President Reynold Levy has said the agreement between the center and the orchestra imposes on the Philharmonic a “residual obligation to pay for the use of the hall for any dates that Lincoln Center is unable to fill with other performances.”

Betsy Vorce, vice president of public relations for Lincoln Center, would offer no comment on whether it plans to take legal action to enforce the terms of the contract.
