It’s cute; it’s hideous; it’s back! It’s “Baby Bob” (7 p.m., CBS), the sitcom you thought you’d forgotten. For the uninitiated, “Bob” appeared last year to scalding reviews and far better ratings than anyone expected. So, as if to torture us during the summer months, CBS will air a second season of this mind-numbing comedy about a 6-month-old who can not only talk, but tends to make jokes with the voice and attitude of a 45-year-old cab driver. It’s amusing, until he starts cracking wise about breast-feeding. That’s where it starts getting hideous.

No, I take that back. The baby talk in “Baby Bob” is only half as annoying as the inane banter between his parents (Adam Arkin and Joely Fisher) and his grandparents (Holland Taylor and Elliott Gould). In tonight’s episode, Bob makes some shocking remarks during Grandpa’s radio interview. Help yourself.

• Best-selling country singer Garth Brooks appears on a 90-minute edition of “Inside Fame” (7 p.m., CMT) to discuss his career, his future and the many stories surrounding his personal life. Many credit Brooks for country music’s boom in the 1990s, and for spreading the genre’s appeal to new audiences. Others see him as a poster boy for the bland suburbanization of country music.

There’s little argument about his record sales, which have been staggering. Since his debut in 1989, he has sold more than 105 million albums. He’s the only solo artist to have four albums sell more than 10 million copies.
