Jazz drummer to play at Folly Theater

Kansas City, Mo. — Legendary jazz drummer Jimmy Cobb, who was featured on Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue,” will play with the Jimmy Cobb Quintet at 8 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Folly Theater.

Randy Brecker will be featured on trumpet.

The show will be preceded at 7 p.m. by a pre-concert discussion during which Cobb will share information about his life in jazz.

KC Filmmakers request Jubilee contestants

Prairie Village — The Kansas City Filmmakers Jubilee is calling for films, videos or media works of any length for its Jubilee 2003.

Entries must be postmarked by Jan. 15.

Categories include the KC Metro Open Division (narrative, animation, documentary or experimental subdivisions); Student Division; Commercial Division; and Underground Division.

The Jubilee is a juried festival. More than $85,000 in cash and prizes have been awarded to participants during the past six years.

Submit an application online at www.kcjubilee.org, and pay your entry fee online using PayPal. You can also download a paper copy of the entry form and submit by mail. Your preview tape must be on VHS-NTSC.
