New relationship roles

New York — Real-life husband and wife Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara will be reunited on screen on the CBS sitcom “The King of Queens.”

Meara will guest star as the mother of Spence (Patton Oswalt), a buddy of Doug Heffernan (series star Kevin James), in an episode to air during the February sweeps period.

Meara’s character ends up in a gigolo-like scenario with Doug’s father-in-law (Stiller), who tries to get money from her.

Stiller, 75, and Meara, 73, make up the longtime comedy team Stiller & Meara. They were part of the improvisational group that became Second City and have appeared together in about 20 movie and TV projects, including son Ben Stiller’s movie “Zoolander” last year.

“The King of Queens” airs at 7 p.m. Mondays on Sunflower Broadband Channels 5 and 13.

No laughing matter

Tel Aviv, Israel — British comedian Ali G awoke in his Tel Aviv hotel room to find a bullet had pierced a wall and window.

The Jewish rapper called the front desk of the David International Hotel after discovering the damage Monday morning, said police spokesman Gil Kleiman.

Ali G, 32, told the desk clerk he thought he had heard a shot during the night, Kleiman said Tuesday.

The hotel’s security guard and police investigated and found the bodies of two Israelis in the adjacent suite. The two men, cousins ages 18 and 24, apparently had committed suicide with an assault rifle before dawn Monday. The men, who left a note, apparently were upset over troubles with their girlfriends, Israeli media said.

Workouts no fun for Babs

New York — Unlike some of her Hollywood peers, Barbra Streisand is no exercise fanatic.

“I hate exercising, I hate it,” Streisand told The Associated Press in a recent interview, as she chowed down on carrot soup.

“Hey, I love to eat, that’s what I love to do, but I’ve gotta exercise.”

Streisand says she hits the gym about three days a week — “I do the bare minimum.”

Destined for romance

New York — Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland has big plans for 2003 — but they don’t have anything to do with music.

“In 2003, I’m going to meet the man of my dreams. I’m convinced,” Rowland giggled during a recent interview. “I just want love. I feel like I have accomplished so much, it would be so nice to accomplish that with somebody.”

Though she’s been linked to rapper Nelly, her duet partner on the No. 1 smash song “Dilemma,” the 21-year-old R&B singer says they’re just friends.

As for her dream date, a picnic in the park or an amusement park trip would be nice.

Just don’t talk her to death about Destiny’s Child. “I had a date like that, and I was like, ‘See ya!’ I knew he was wrong from the get go,” she said.
