Rocker recalls rock bottom

London — Rock guitarist Pete Townshend considered suicide after his arrest on suspicion of possessing child pornography, a newspaper quoted him as saying.

“If I had had a gun, I would have shot myself,” The Who co-founder said in The Observer Sunday newspaper. “And if I had shot myself, it would have been … awful because it would have confirmed what everybody thought.”

Townshend, 58, was cleared in May of possessing pornographic images of children but still was placed on a national register of sex offenders.

Angelina faces adoption scandal

Seattle — Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie is facing a huge legal battle to remain the mother of her son Maddox, reports IMDB.com.

The “Tomb Raider” beauty, 28, was shocked to hear her 2- 1/2-year-old child might not be an orphan and could have been sold by his birth mother in a desperate attempt to escape a poverty-stricken life.

The FBI has already closed down Seattle International Adoptions Inc., used by Jolie to adopt Maddox, after its former owner Lynn Devin pleaded guilty to false claims that some children the agency handled were orphans.

Back in a big way

New York — Ellen DeGeneres actually thought her career was over.

She became a hero to gays in 1997, after the most highly publicized coming-out in modern history. But she soon lost her ABC sitcom “Ellen,” and her girlfriend, actress Anne Heche. A second sitcom, “The Ellen Show” came and went in 2001.

But since the September premiere of her syndicated talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the 45-year-old has become a hot commodity, and the show’s ratings continue to climb.

DeGeneres also provided the voice for the chatty fish Dory in the animated “Finding Nemo,” the highest-grossing film of the year.

“Now it seems like everything is so flattering and positive. I’m savoring this,” she told The New York Times for Sunday’s editions.
