Law enforcement report

A semi truck carrying a load of used tires overturned and caught fire under a power line about 4 p.m. Thursday in Leavenworth County, causing a power outage to about 300 Westar Energy customers, authorities said. The truck, owned by Tire Town, was carrying tires to a landfill when it ran off County Road 8 near 163rd Street. Fairmount Township, Delaware Township, Stranger Township and Tonganoxie Township fire departments responded and put out the fire. No one was injured, and power was restored about 10 p.m., according to a Leavenworth County Sheriff’s report.
