Sebelius names two new members of the Board of Regents

? Gov. Kathleen Sebelius announced on Friday she has made two new appointments to the Kansas Board of Regents — a former state legislator and a business consultant.

Sebelius named former Sen. Frank Gaines, Hamilton, and Nelson Galle, Manhattan, who consults with manufacturing firms, to four-year terms. The regents oversee state universities, community colleges and technical colleges.

Gaines and Galle, whose appointments will have to be confirmed next year by the Kansas Senate, replace former Sen. Fred Kerr, of Pratt, and former Rep. Jack Wempe, of Little River, whose terms expired June 30.
