Auditions set for ‘Kiss Me Kate’

Auditions for the Cole Porter musical “Kiss Me Kate” will be 7 p.m. April 14 and 15 at Lawrence Community Theatre, 1501 N.H.

The play is set in the 1940s as an acting company prepares a production of “The Taming of the Shrew.” Songs include numbers “Another Op’nin, Another Show,” “Too Darn Hot,” “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” and “Wunderbar.”

Auditioners are asked to prepare a brief song. An accompanist will be provided. The show is under the direction of Mary Doveton with music direction by Judy Heller and choreography by Barbara Wasson. All actors play double roles as both members of the Baltimore Players and characters in “Taming of the Shrew.” Dancers are needed. Roles are available for 11 principals and an ensemble.

Rehearsals will begin April 21. Performances are scheduled to begin June 6.
