$1 million bid for Eminem’s house
Warren, Mich. – Bidding for one of Eminem’s boyhood homes has surpassed $1 million on an Internet auction site.
Eminem’s uncle, Todd Nelson, sold the house this month for $45,000 to Sebastian Lucido, a Utica attorney, and Roland Fraschetti, a Macomb County commissioner and real estate developer. The 1,300-square-foot home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was built in 1940 and has been in Eminem’s family for at least 50 years, Fraschetti said.
The Web site, www.ebay.com, which includes pictures, had over 18,000 hits in less than four days, Lucido said.
Bids on eBay will be accepted until 5 p.m. Dec. 14. At that time, the sellers will get in touch with the highest bidder to work out a purchase agreement, Lucido said.

D’Angelo allegedly resisted police as they tried to arrest him Monday and had to be subdued with the spray, Maj. James B. Bourque said.
The 28-year-old singer was released on his recognizance pending a Jan. 15 appearance in Chesterfield General Court.

Just call me Tom
Los Angeles – The dawn of the atomic age in Egypt inspired filmmaker Atom Egoyans first’ name.
Egoyan was born in 1960 in Cairo, around the time nuclear power plants began opening in Egypt.
“My parents had the idea that here was this new source of energy, so it would be great to name their son after it. Sort of a vaguely hippie-ish idea,” Egoyan, 42, said in an interview with The Associated Press last week to promote his film “Ararat.”
Egoyan’s family immigrated to Canada when he a boy, and he found his first name an obstacle to fitting in among Canadians.
“When I was a kid, all I wanted to be called was ‘Tom,”‘ Egoyan said. “I just wished my parents had not given me the burden of this unusual name. That was the last thing I needed with my desire to assimilate.”
