Art imitates life on “CSI: Miami” (9 p.m., CBS). Tonight’s episode strangely parallels last month’s sniper serial killings. But this story was not “ripped from the headlines.” It was produced long before the Washington-area sniper story unfolded.

On tonight’s “CSI: Miami” Horatio’s (David Caruso) crew try to find out how three people could die of bullet wounds in the middle of Miami’s rush hour traffic. The cranky Horatio really has his hands full after the killer strikes again and legions of unruly reporters descend on his crime scene.

In other “CSI: Miami” news, Kim Delaney’s character, Megan Donner, has been written out of the show. Next week’s episode will be her last. At best, Donner and Horatio shared an awkward chemistry. And while Donner was supposed to be a grieving widow and a serious forensics expert, she was often shown wearing tight fitting outfits and shot from a provocative angle.

• Morbid Monday’s other morgue drama, “Crossing Jordan” (9 p.m., NBC), resorts to stunt casting and echoes of past sweeps gimmicks. Mariel Hemingway guest stars as a controversial gay talk show host whose lover is found murdered. Way back in February 1994, Hemingway also played a lesbian. She planted a rather public kiss on a surprised Roseanne Arnold on “Roseanne.” The episode got big ratings, and inspired similarly themed sweeps episodes of “Friends” and “Ally McBeal.” More recently Hemingway has appeared in three TBS movies as secret service agent Alex McGregor, and played Tipper Gore in the VH1 drama “Warning: Parental Advisory.”
• The Travel Channel has a real wild man on their hands. Raised on a wildlife refuge in Africa, Jules Sylvester has been surrounded by exotic critters since before he could walk. The host of “Jules Sylvester’s Wild Adventures” (7 p.m., Travel) grew up to become an animal wrangler for more than 300 feature films and television programs. He’s managed the maggots, mosquitoes and cockroaches shown on “CSI.” He’s trained tarantulas for use on “Malcolm in the Middle,” and has supplied the lizards used for Britney Spears videos, as well as the three-legged goat featured in “The Ring.”

On tonight’s episode, he travels to Kenya to document the exciting and dangerous migration of zebra and wildebeest across the crocodile infested Mara River. “Wild Adventures” will air every night this week and culminate with a five-hour marathon on Saturday (3 p.m.).
