Leavenworth ? A head-on collision killed four people, including three members of a family, the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department said.

The crash occurred Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 73 just north of Leavenworth when a northbound car driven by Brigitta T. Averill of Atchison went out of control, crossed the center line and hit a southbound vehicle.

Averill, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report by the Sheriff’s Department, which said she had been driving in an “aggressive manner.”

The driver of the southbound car, Jason A. Harris, 27, of Easton, was pronounced dead at the KU Med in Kansas City, Kan. His wife, Victoria Harris, 26, and daughter Delana, 4, died at the scene.

A 2-year-old daughter was taken to a Kansas City, Mo., hospital for treatment.
